Choosing Topic Essays

Choosing Topic EssaysWhen selecting essay topics, don't your eyes keep wandering to God? I ask because, during the writing process, I was struck by a certain paragraph where someone used God as the primary topic of an essay. This seems highly inappropriate to me, so I need to get my facts straight.First of all, when selecting essay topics, don't you remember that you are writing for your class, not some Muppet from the local church? Of course, everyone in your class is entitled to their own opinion, but you are here to write for the general class. So, as much as you and I both want to disagree with each other, you need to remember that it is not the opinion of the writer that matters; it is the opinion of the reader. So, when choosing essay topics, don't you remember to stick to issues of concern to your class, and if you do wish to include a more personal view of something, make sure that you do not include anything that is personal, offensive, or false. For example, while writing an essay on homosexuality, it would be a wonderful thing to include the Bible verses from Romans that discuss homosexuality as a sin. But, that is another story. Not everyone will be able to find those verses, but you can look for them online. Now, when selecting essay topics, don't you remember to stick to the subject that is in your essay, and that is your topic of choice. It will also help if you can cite references for the information you are citing. But, what happens when you want to cover your topic of choice? Then, I say you just refer to 'God' as your topic. What a great way to have this beautifully written essay by tying in all of your thoughts and ideas on your topic of choice, and it will create a superb final product! But, what about the rest of the world when selecting essay topics? Well, if you will recall, you are required to have your essay in English Language Arts, and you need to write an essay in that you would be happy to read if you were the teacher reading your essa y. I, personally, don't care what your topic is, as long as you have the words to back up your arguments.Think about it, do you really believe that you would be able to read that sentence without remembering your own life and having a few thoughts of your own? Or, do you feel that you can just blindly accept a document that comes across your desk that says that you are going to spend eternity in hell if you don't believe in God? It has been said that your intellect is greater than your belief, but if your article doesn't inspire your readers, it will not give you the needed boost to write it again. That is why you need to focus on essay topics that pertain to your students' lives. Because when you speak from the heart, your audience will hear the truth.
